Hello, I'm Ellie Geary, a visual artist based in West Yorkshire (UK).
I make functional sculptures from wood. The pieces are created slowly using hand tools and environmentally-friendly woodstains then sealed with multiple layers of a strong, protective finish. Boxes have a practical function to hold items known only to the eventual owner which appeals to my appreciation of these containers as a metaphor for care, mystery and ongoing story.
In 2025, I began printmaking with linoleum blocks and I'm currently working through my large collection of drawings to develop visual motifs that can exist alone or fit within handmade frames or sculptures.
